Pallas Heights

Thanks to Daragh for inviting me to blog here, as my first post I thought I’d recommend the most innovative, not to mention coolest, gallery in Dublin at the moment.

Pallas Heights (pictured) is a contemporary art space housed on Buckingham Street in Sean Tracey House a block of semi-derelict flats awaiting demolition. In 2003 Pallas Studios took over a number of flats to use as a gallery and studio space and since then Pallas Heights has been the most exciting art space in the city, unfortunately the building is finally going to be demolished and the current four exhibitions will be the last ever. The exhibitions are:

Fergus Byrne, Fiction, flat 25

Clodagh Emoe, Metaphysical Longings, flat 28

Vanessa O’Reilly, SWARM, flat 29

Via, flat 30

Viewing the exhibitions is by appointment, you ring a number and you can get directions and someone opens up the gallery for you, I know that puts some people off but consider it your personal guide. If you’re at all interested in the city and art check it out while you still can. Full information on visiting the gallery here. Continues until May15th.

    Welcome welcome welcome! :)

Wow, that’s a pretty neat and unique idea for a gallery!

Sounds like an amazing place. Can’t believe I haven’t heard about it before now. Has the gallery got a new space or will it just disappear ?

It’s a bit of a best kept secret even though they run a good publicity machine but arts coverage in the msm in Ireland is a bit of a joke, they find it hard to look beyond IMMA. There will be a replacement but it’ll be a more traditional space. The city is fast running out of run down blocks of flats.
