U2 still pay tax on their business earnings, like their tours. Why should they pay more tax, especially to this government? So the government can buy more useless e-voting machines? Or maybe pay some computer consultants for unusable software? Besides, the coffers are already overflowing with a billion euro of stamp duty spoils. It's not as though the government needs the money. It's not as if he's reducing his contribution - he's just restructuring to keep it at the same level as before. The reality is that his tax money won't make any difference whatsoever to the government's contribution to foreign aid. I'm just surprised that U2 are not prepared to contribute to the Irish exchequer however Bono will continue to badger our government to increase foreign aid. I didn't say it wrong, I just think its a strange move for someone who has been so focused on helping the third world to be turning their attention towards buying media outlets.
