I only noticed yesterday the Shell station on Parnell Rd was gone. That was a very cheap spot. You can always tell the price is good when you see a queue of taxis waiting to fill up! I wonder how long Mount Brown or Kilmainham cheapies will last.

The truth is that the profit on Petrol is close to 0% and most of the stations omly sell the petrol in order to get customers for the attached shop. Any Petrol station with out a shop will close and even ones with a shop attached will only survive if the shop makes a good turnover and profit.

When Shell sold their retail petrol outfit, I guess either they or their new owners decided to liquidate the high value sites.

Shell in Greystones has closed recently too, leaving just one (Esso) petrol station in a rapidly growing town
