Moving to Ireland from US. When I get job offers in Euros I use exchange rate to determine
dollar equivalent. For example if I got an offer of 100,000 Euros per year that would be about $131,000 at today's rate. That would be quite good in most US cities except NYC.

But I'm not sure this is the right way to compare costs of living. Anybody who has lived both in US and Dublin out there and can tell me if 100,000 Euro lifestyle in Dublin compares to $130,000 lifestyle in say Washington,DC??

Great posts! I am a canadian with EU citizenship moving to Dub. I've got some friends there and my company is taking care of the Move. However, I'm looking to HURL. Do you know any hurling clubs that will take on newbies?

Hi. I live in Colorado and have a chance to move to Ireland (can be anywhere, but Dublin or close by feels like the smart choice since a lot of work is in Cork and Belfast). My wife is very hesitant about being so far from family. Does anyone have experiences or stories about making this work? Also, how easy is it to find day care and solid baby sitting? Thank you for your help.

I am moving to Dublin and jusy wondered what good area would be. I can afford a house, as I would like to live 20 mins train ride outside. Blackrock has been reccommended, are there any others. It seems I am going to have to pay at least 1500 per month

Thanks guys, and great helpful comments above.
