Halloween in Dublin

RedMum | October 30, 2006

It’s Halloween tomorrow evening. It reminds me that I was in Belfast last Halloween and travelled back to Dublin in the dark. The night outside my train window was broken up the whole way along with bonfires and fireworks, you could almost touch the pagan throw back. This pic is all I managed to capture through the train window and was taken at Newry.

There are lots of things going on around Dublin so go and find something fun in your area. Be careful of fireworks, in fact why not leave them to the experts eh?

*As an aside anyone got any Dublin ghost stories – there were some in the Evening Herald tonight, stories centred on the Shelbourne Hotel ghost, one in Dublin Castle, Malahide Castle, Johnnie Fox’s, Brazen Head, Malahide Castle and of course the Hell Fire Club! If you want to hear them you will have to ask :) *

I’ve flown in and out of Dublin a few times around Halloween, and the amount of fireworks that you see (despite the fact that they are illegal) always amazes me!

I don’t have any Irish ghost stories but I did do a ghost tour of Edinburgh but it wasn’t very ghostly. Maybe I’m too cynical! Living tv tonight are live from Edinburgh with “Most Haunted Live”. I wonder if its any scarier than my experience.

i recently went to the hellfire club with friends from wales at 1.30 at night.they were looking for scary places in dublin to visit and that place at that time at night scared the hell out of them.the 35minhike up to it in the cold dark night with woods on either side of the trail was scary.we kept hearing noises comming from the woods of whistling footsteps and howls and the deers eyes beaming from the distance were spooky.when we eventually got to the house we were freeked out.it took us a few minutes to find the entrance into it and with the rumours saying if tou walk around the house 3 times after midnight the devil is said to appear.we nearly did looking for the entrance.the house itself is like the house seen in the blair witch project but scarier.i would recommend to anyone wanting to get spooked to take the hike and night and visit the house.especially on holloween night.

Hello and happy new year Dubliners – I’m a writer currently working on a collection of ‘everyday paranormal ‘ stories in and around Dublin. Your experiences are welcome, and will only be published with your permission.

I’m looking for the every stuff – not the famous legends and myths for the tourist industry

    Stephen Wade
