Hot chocolate to brighten up your day
Marieke | February 28, 2007When asked about the weather in Ireland, and particularly Dublin, the only fitting description would be Four Seasons in One Day. You leave the house in the morning with bright sunshine, by the time you reach your destination you will be soaked, only to be blown off the pavement on your way back.
Today, of course, was no different. I once again found myself stranded on O’Connell street, waiting for a bus that didn’t come while the rain was pooring down and umbrella’s were giving in all around me. The best remedy to save you on a moment like that is to quickly pop in to a Butler’s Chocolate and buy a hot chocolate. With or without cream but with the complimentary truffle, it is in my opinion the best method to temporarily escape everything cold and wet while the rain is still pooring down on your head.
While letting the truffle melt in your mouth by the hot chocolate you drink, you simply forget that you are getting soaked and are freezing.
Trust me, the bus will be there before you know it…..

Butler’s has decent coffee too. My wife likes it when I buy an Americano there so that she can have the complimentary truffle.
I walked from O’Connell Street to the St. Stephen’s Green LUAS stop today and only experienced one of the four seasons – the wet and windy one. (Of course, it cleared up later in the evening when I was in my dry, warm car.)
Mmmmmm, sounds so good right now!!
Welcome Marieke!

I too would recommend a hot chocolate from Butlers, it’s the nicest one around!!! I was just thinking about getting one when I saw your mails! Nice to know others have good taste too!!
particularly nice to think about from where i am sitting (in minnesota), with a blizzard howling out my window. i’m definitely having a hot chocolate tonight. thanks for the idea! wish it could be in dublin!
[...] decided to check out what it is that people actually drink at their coffee shops, in view of Marieke’s post about Hot Chocolate last week. So, we have a poll running over there on the right where you can let us know what it is [...]
Sometimes bad weather can really help give you a cozy and memorable experience. There is nothing like drinking a cup of hot chocolate in front of a fire after just getting out of drenching rain.
