Sure, Sarah. Loads of things to see in Dublin. I think it will depend partly on the young people you have coming over and what they’re interested in. The Book of Kells in Trinity College is a must-see, but not every young person would be in to that. There’s loads of shopping to be had on Grafton and Henry Streets. There are also Christ Church & St. Patrick’s cathedrals and I’ve heard good things about the Viking Splash Tours (www.vikingsplash.ie). There’s an XBox Live Gaming Centre in South William Street for the gamers. There are also loads of music and theatre venues that you could look into for any shows that would be of interest to your group.

Thanks Brandon, I appreciate your suggestions and will follow them up. Any ideas for places to visit that would suit young people- we need to organise quite a jam-packed itinary? Would be great to hear from someone in dublin!

Hi there, Sarah. You’ll just be missing the Festival of World Cultures in Dun Laoghaire. Try checking TempleBar.ie or VisitDublin.com to find out about other events happening. I think there’s something happening throughout the summer in Temple Bar (Diversions Festival.)

The Hitchens debate is part of the Dublin Writers Festival. They call it a festival but really it’s a whole bunch of events that stand alone. You have to buy a separate ticket for each event… having said that the events are not expensive. The Hitchens/Waters debate is only â‚¬10.

There’ll also be the Eurocultured Festival the end of august, I think. It already took place last year and as far as I know it will be for free.
Basically, it’s lots of European bands playing, as well as street art, cabaret and other stuff. It doesn’t say much on the website yet, but there should be something up soon (here: http://www.eurocultured.com).

I’ll be traveling to Dublin from the United States for Bloomsday and will be there for a week. Any insight on what to expect during the festival? I see the Dublin Writers Festival is taking place during the same time and am hoping to attend the Hitchens/Waters debate.
