Petition to save St Lukes

Daragh | December 13, 2007

Wow, it’s been a while since I posted anything here, but this has come my way and is worthy of a mention.

St. Lukes cancer care hospital is due to be closed down shortly. This is a vital, much needed, and much respected service, and everything possible should be done to try and keep it open. There are numerous petitions and services flying about, this is one that’s just been sent my way and is well worth signing, if you too believe saving St Lukes is a good thing. You can go here in order to sign.

St Lukes is an example of how Cancer Services should be delivered in Ireland.

My Mother was very well looked after when she was treated for Cancer. Like everything now a days some Accountant wants to Close Down this excellent Hospital.
I would like to bring to their attention and to Minister HARNEY – THEIR SICK DAYS WILL COME.
    DO NOT CLOSE ST LUKES.

I was a patient in St. Luke’s Hospital and can not speak highly enough about the staff and facilities there and the treatment I received. My feeling is that the land is worth more to the government than the health of their people. Luke’s is a excellent hospital doing a fantastic job. Why does our government not listen to it’s people? Why are they messing with something that works?

Fianna Fail are determined to close cancer centres all around the country. In two of these case they have already broken ground on private hospitals without any provisions being made for the cancer patients and their families.
St Lukes is in another in a long list, like Sligo General, where the land is worth more to Fianna Fail and their business interests then the live of the patients there.
Good luck with your campaign, my mother was treated once in St Lukes and it is a fantastic hospital.
    Good luck to you all.
