I went on Saturday to Taste of Dublin and really enjoyed it. You have to ignore all those D4 people, they were only interested in quaffing champagne in the bar, the real foodies were out and about tasting things! And I would disagree about there not being real foodies there, I thought there was, I'd include myself in that! And I was talking to chef Kevin Dundon and he told me that people had been talking to him all day about food and asking his opinion and chatting about recipes and all that. He was delighted by the amount of foodies that were there, he told me there's nothing he likes more than to discuss food and he got plenty of opportunity at Taste of Dublin.

A lot of people seem to have issues with the price, but I actually thought it wasn't too bad. Myself and my boyfriend went and in total (between admission and florins) spent about 80 or 85 euro. For that we had a great evening, four hours of entertainment, met some celebrity chefts, ate at six of the top restaurants in Dublin AND got loads and loads and loads of freebies too. Usually on a Saturday night we'd go to dinner or the cinema and would easily spend 80 euro in a very mediocre restaurant. For us, Taste of Dublin was very reasonable.

I'd recommend it, don't be put off by the BT brigade, they show up at every event in Dublin, the trick is to ignore them and just concentrate on your own enjoyment!

I went on Friday and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately though, the night before I had eaten something which disagreed with my guts. Matters were brought to a 'chunky' head when I had to throw up beside the saddle room stall. I would like to apologise to all those who were put off their steak sambos by my emetic episode and to the owners of the Shelbourne who failed to see the funny side at the time.

A lot!! About the price, please know that inside you had to buy "florins" (one florin = one euro) in order to buy some food (prices around 5-6 euros/florins for one dish).
