It's Great!
I work in the area and with all the economic doom and gloom, it's great to see people having a bit of fun, for free, it's the type of thing that makes me want to live in the area! I've been down to the beach three or four times since it opened and it's great seeing workers, tourists and the locals all having fun in the middle of the city! Fair dues to those who organised it, investing money locally so that people can have a little break instead of having to fly or drive off somewhere else to spend there money. To all the naysayers, don't knock til you try it, if you don't like it that's fine, but let other people enjoy it without making us feel guilty! I'm off now to practice Salsa moves, (I'm thinking about the Salsa tonight).

It's not a waste of money if people used it.
If ever public investment had to be justified financially, there wouldn't be any taxes.
Why do you people have such a negative outlook on everything?

I think it its a bit of a joke myself. And an expensive one at the taxpayers expense! I don't understand the logic. Dublin city is on the coast, we have plenty of beaches. Why waste money on a sand pit especially given the wet weather we are experiencing at present.
