I totally agree with Marieke. Her goats cheese salad was disgraceful - in taste, size and ingredients. The tables were so close, I spent the night being bashed into as people passing by my chair. Unfortunately I seemed to be positioned in a busy thoroughfare! Foodwise I had the asparagus for starters also - not hugely exciting. My main however, was fab - calves liver and bacon on mash. Yum, yum. I also had the Eton Mess which was very good. The service was truly shocking for a restaurant with such a high profile name attached. Topped up by the fact no change was being returned (approx eur40) until we had to ask for it.

Atmosphere: 5/10. Whats with the photos of "famous" people around the room? I don't like having my chair bashed into every few minutes. Not good enough.
Starter: 5/10. So, so.
Main: 9/10. Very good. Marking down because liver portion was small.
Dessert: 10/10. Very good.

Overall experience: 6/10. Disappointing. I won't be back.

I have to agree with Merieke on this one. While we'd been warned that the food at MPW's would be simple, that's no excuse for the general blandness and tastelessness of the food we were served! I had the fish & chips for mains, and while the texture of the batter was light and crisp, I found myself constantly reaching for the salt to try and add a bit of flavour. That coupled with the poor service has sealed its fate for me.

The one bright spot for me was the desserts: the Eton Mess was delicious!
