Peoples Photography 2009
Dec | May 16, 2009Peoples Photography in Dublin will be on again later this year. I was at a meeting on Friday night where the future of the exhibition was discussed and seems to have been secured with many people volunteering to help out.
Peoples Photography will take place as always on the last weekend of August, Saturday 29th to Sunday 30th. It’s a great event for photographers of all levels to display their work and a great free exhibition for Dubliners and tourists. I know you might think I’m posting this early but any photographers out there who want to take part will need to book a place and prepare their photographs, which if my experience from last year is anything to go by you’ll want as much advance warning as possible. The exhibition itself is great fun and a great experience. Selecting, printing, and mounting photographs before hand is a pain, but worth it in the end.
Go up to the website to find out more, it still contains the 2008 information but should be updated soon.

May I just ask where I go to book a spot please. Many thanks.

You can go up to http://www.peoples-photography.com/ download the form and send it in. Costs €15 but really thats just a token amount to cover costs and put off people who would just register for a spot but have no real intention of showing up and are just doing so in case they are bored that weekend.
All the forms and the website say 2008 but the organisers say that should be updated soon. There are only two people running it at the moment and they do so in their spare time so have only managed to start preparing for 2009 a couple of weeks ago. Spots are allocated based on some mix of who was there in previous years and first come first served. Spots that are empty after 11am on the day will be reallocated to people who are further around on the Green and want to move to “better” locations.
We saw this last year and took our time walking around St. Stephen’s Green for a good hour or more. Good times. Some friends entered their photos and they seemed to get some great responses and interaction and even some sales.
Many thanks for your reply,
Regards
Theresa
