Peoples Photography

Dec | August 28, 2009

Just a quick post to remind everyone that Peoples Photography 2009 is on tomorrow and Sunday around St Stephens Green. The People’s Photography Exhibition is a unique opportunity to enjoy a showcase of striking images in a relaxed atmosphere in the heart of Dublin city. This summer’s event features a diverse selection of work from enthusiasts, clubs and international award winning professionals. Themes on display include landscape, monochrome, photojournalism, portraiture, creative, nature, analogue, digital and abstract. The originality and creativeness of the many imaginative displays will be greatly appreciated not only by those looking for a fun day out with a great atmosphere in the city but also by anyone who has a keen eye for all things arty. This exhibition is the ideal option to do something different at the weekend and what’s even better, it benefits good causes.

I’ll be taking part again this year so if you are in town on Saturday or Sunday call over to space 70 and say hello.

Hope it went well, Dec! Had really hoped to make it in and stop by to say hello to “space 70,” but unfortunately it didn’t work out this year.

Only been to the Peoples Photography once and just by coincidence. It’s good craic and have considered doing it myself but not sure if it has to be all arty photos or can it be anything? What causes does it support?

It’s any type of photography, anyone from amateur to professional is welcome to take part. This year donations were made to the National Council of the Blind and the Dublin Simon Community. The event is run as a not for profit event so any money that is left over from the entry fees after expenses like insurance and some small adverts is kept in the bank and then donated to charity.

I’m a musician and I need to get some decent portraits done for promotional stuff (posters/flyers/myspace/local press…etc) but the problem is I’m pretty broke so I was hoping to find a student/amateur photographer who I could maybe barter a deal with…I can’t pay much but I could sweeten the deal with maybe free tickets to my gigs plus a home baked cake? Anyway I thought this was as good a place as any to look for someone, if anyones interested email me at rionahartman@hotmail.com with some samples of portraits you’ve taken.
    Thanks
    R
